Pacifica High School, a part of the
Oxnard Union High School District, is a nine-building educational
campus located in Oxnard, California. Careful community planning enabled
the school district to develop this 51 acre site into a spacious multi-functional
educational campus. Unlike other metropolitan high school campuses,
crowded into expensive minimal acreage sites, Pacifica High School
fans out over the site acreage, giving students, teachers and administrators
copious latitude to expand educational as well as physical horizons.
Each of the nine campus buildings are designed for specific educational
specializations. The enormity of this campus and complexity of its
infrastructure are subdued by the simplicity of its layout. Encompassing
two quadrangles, campus administration and teaching facilities are
laid out in simple ninety degree relationships and ell-shaped configurations
that assist campus visitors in flowing from building to building.
The size of the campus dictates some
out-of-the-ordinary infrastructure systems. The electrical system
is a mixture of several power voltage configurations throughout the
campus. Underground ducts disburse utility service from the service
yard points of connection in the northeast corner of the campus to
individual buildings and locations throughout the campus site. End
user power is created by large KVA transformers that provide primary
voltage / amperage to building switchboards and common use areas.
Similar ducts distribute communication and other low voltage system
conductors from the Administration Building to far flung campus points
of use. Telephone, intercom, life safety, data, satellite, security,
public address, assisted hearing, CATV and audio / visual systems
enhance the use of the buildings.
As part of its services to Energy Services
Contractors, DACM Project Management
prepared a lump sum bid for all CSI Division 16 components of the
nine building campus and ancillary buildings as well. Performing by
the high standards ofour estimating department,
a thorough review of the bid documents was conducted which identified
specifics of the scope of work. We then secured quotes from numerous
wholesale suppliers and were responsible for all material quantity
take-off preparation and pricing. Additionally we were responsible
for providing data for and securing quotes from various low voltage
system subcontractors, including remote lighting, telephone, intercom,
life safety / fire alarm, data, satellite, security, public address,
assisted hearing, CATV and audio / visual systems.
